MACAU -
International Series Macau presented by Wynn has been named as a qualifying pathway event for The Open,
with the top three finishers at Macau Golf and Country Club from March 20-23 set to earn a coveted spot in
the field for this year’s fourth major.
The second edition of the
tournament has been confirmed by The R&A as one of 15 events in 11 countries that form the Open
Qualifying Series for 2025, offering the leading three non-exempt players a shot at winning the famous
Claret Jug when this year's edition is played at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland from July
17-20.
This marks the first time an event on The International
Series has been part of the Open Qualifying Series, and continues to demonstrate the emergence of the
series as a route to the highest stages in professional golf.
The
International Series already forms a pathway onto the LIV Golf League for players through its rankings
system across 10 events on the Asian Tour calendar.
Last year’s
International Series Macau presented by Wynn was won by LIV Golf reserve player John Catlin with the
American seeing off Spanish youngster David Puig of Fireballs GC in a thrilling play-off. Catlin had
carded a historic third round of 59 on the Saturday, while Puig hit back with an impressive final round of
60 to draw level on a thrilling final day.
